What is this?

Can you name these leaves?

I picked these leaves at the market yesterday for their freshness and pretty shape. The vendor didn't help me much with a name in any language I knew. All he said was they tasted sour, which they did as I promptly tasted and tested. I think they'd do well in a salad with other veggies, but my husband thinks they should be ground into a lovely chutney. Can you tell me what these leaves are and how they are used in cooking? This is not a guessing game and all information and suggestions are welcome.

Jyostna, it looks like gongura leaves. They're used a lot in Andhra cooking. You can make dal out of it, chutney, or cook it in combo with non-veg items (chicken, mutton, prawns). Hope this helps! :)

Jyothsna, the leaf in the centre of the photo definitely does not look like a normal gongura leaf, tho' the other similarities are there - the split leaves and the red at the spot where the leaves join the stem. Gongura leaves usually taper off to a point, these are rounded and look thicker than gongura.
The leaves in the right bottom corner resemble gongura, tho'. Just google gongura and check. I did, before I wrote this thesis. ;)
And please let us know what it is - I'm curious now.

This definitely is ghongura or as we call it in MArathi ''Ambadi''. You can make chutney or bhaaji with it. Tastes delicious.
